November 4, 2010 - Kane County, Utah conducted an emergency drill starting at 5:30 am to assess reaction and response time. The drill involved every department at the hospital, first aid responders, news agencies, media, and law enforcement. During the drill, the hospital deployed one of the four 25-bed Emergency Response Facilities from BLU-MED Response Systems.
The state of Utah purchased four BLU-MED hospital facilities as part of a statewide disaster preparedness program. The BLU-MED facilities will be strategically placed in different locations around the state, including the Dixie Regional Medical Center, the VA Medical Center in Salt Lake City, and the Tremonton and Allen Memorial Hospital in Grand County. In the event of a major disaster, the four facilities can be brought together and complexed to create a single, large hospital.
BLU-MED facilities can be sized and customized to meet a variety of state and local emergency management and public health needs, with modular options including medical surge wards, patient treatment, decontamination, immunization/drug distribution, negative pressure isolation, and field laboratory units. BLU-MED Response Systems is a division of Alaska Structures, Inc. For more information see www.Blu-Med.com
